Community guidelines

A short set of expectations that keep this a place people want to come back to.

Be decent to each other

Disagree with the point, not the person. No insults, mockery, or pile-ons. People arrive here with different experience levels and different days behind them.

Stay on topic

Post in the group that fits, and keep a discussion roughly on the thing it started about. If a side conversation takes off, start a new discussion for it.

Respect privacy

Do not post someone else's personal information, private messages, or photographs without their agreement. Think twice before posting details that identify you, too — public groups are readable by anyone.

No spam or covert promotion

Do not use the forum to advertise, recruit, or drive traffic elsewhere. Mentioning a product or service that genuinely helped you is fine; posting to sell is not.

Write things people can use

Specifics beat generalities. What you tried, what happened, what you would do differently — that is what makes a discussion worth reading later.

Reporting

Use the report link on any post that breaks these guidelines. Reports are private and reviewed by a site admin.

If guidelines are broken

Depending on what happened, a post may be hidden or removed, and repeated or deliberate breaches can cost someone their account. Admins will normally talk to you first.
